How to install

  1. Step 1 — Download
Click the download button above to get the .msi installer. Your browser saves it to your Downloads folder. When the download finishes, open that folder and double-click the .msi file to start.
  2. Step 2 — SmartScreen warning
Windows may show a message that says "Windows protected your PC" or "unrecognized app." This is expected. The installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows does not recognize it yet.

Click More info, then click Run anyway.

Note: This warning will appear again on every update. Each update is a new installer — there are no silent background patches.
  3. Step 3 — Install and launch
Follow the on-screen steps to finish the installation, then open Pronounce.
  4. Step 4 — First launch
The first time you open the app, it will download a speech model (about 339 MB). This takes a few minutes and requires an internet connection. Later launches do not need to download it again.
  1. Step 1 — Download
Click the download button above to get the .dmg disk image. It is built for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer). Your browser saves it to your Downloads folder. When the download finishes, open that folder to find the .dmg file.
  2. Step 2 — Open the disk image
Double-click the downloaded .dmg, then drag Pronounce into your Applications folder.
  3. Step 3 — Open it the first time
Because the app is not yet notarized by Apple, macOS may say it "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" or "Apple could not verify…" This is expected.

Open your Applications folder, Control-click (or right-click) the app, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog.

If macOS only offers Move to Trash, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway, then open the app again.
  4. Step 4 — First launch
The first time you open the app, it will download a speech model (about 339 MB). This takes a few minutes and requires an internet connection. Later launches do not need to download it again.

Keeping the app up to date

Sometimes we publish a new version here. You can get updates in either of two ways:

Either way, updating works just like the first install: open the downloaded installer and run it. Follow the same steps as above. The security warning appears again each time, because every update is a complete new installer — there are no silent background updates. Your saved settings stay in place.

Your privacy

Your practice audio is processed on-device — no audio recordings leave your computer. The app does connect to the internet to download the speech model on first launch and to check for updates.
